We aimed to explore the effectiveness of nattokinase, an enzyme with potent fibrinolytic properties, in treating heart attacks. Through our research, we focused on enhancing the production of nattokinase from a newly identified strain of Pseudomonas aeruginosa, referred to as CMSS, which we isolated from cow milk.
Our comprehensive study involved optimizing different growth conditions such as pH, temperature, and nutrient sources, alongside improving the strain through UV-mutagenesis. We were excited to find that these optimizations led to a significant increase in nattokinase production.
The standout results showed that our modified strain produced nattokinase with a maximum activity of 4263 U mL(-1), which is double that of the original strain. In practical terms, this nattokinase achieved an impressive 94% blood clot lysis within ten minutes, hinting at its potential as a rapid acting treatment for heart-related issues.
Overall, our findings suggest that nattokinase from Pseudomonas aeruginosa CMSS could be a promising candidate for thrombolytic therapy, notably for those at risk of acute myocardial infarction. This unique study represents the first report of nattokinase production from this microorganism, opening the door to further research.

Nattokinase nanozyme aids heart recovery
A Nattokinase-Loaded Nanozyme for Alleviating Acute Myocardial Infarction via Thrombolysis and Antioxidation.
We designed a study to explore the effectiveness of nattokinase in treating acute myocardial infarction, a condition often caused by blood clots. Thrombus formation leads to reduced blood flow, and finding effective treatments is critical for improving outcomes in heart attack patients.
Nattokinase is a naturally occurring enzyme known for its ability to dissolve blood clots, but its clinical use has been limited due to stability issues. To overcome this, we developed a manganese oxide nanozyme loaded with nattokinase, called MnOx@NK. This innovative approach not only delivers the clot-busting properties of nattokinase but also provides antioxidant benefits.
In our experiments using a mouse model of heart attack, we administered MnOx@NK through tail vein injections. The results were promising: we observed significant improvements in vascular function and a notable reduction in myocardial injury. The nanozyme effectively protected against oxidative stress, which can worsen the damage caused by heart attacks.
Overall, our findings suggest that using nattokinase-loaded nanozymes may pave the way for new treatments for acute myocardial infarction, potentially offering a safer and more effective option for patients facing this severe condition.

Promotes heart health
Modern studies indicate that nattokinase fosters heart and circulatory health by supporting normal blood clotting.
A heart attack, also known as myocardial infarction, occurs when blood flow to a part of the heart is blocked, often by a blood clot. This interruption can damage or destroy part of the heart muscle, leading to serious health complications or death if not treated promptly. Common symptoms include chest pain, shortness of breath, nausea, and lightheadedness. Risk factors include high blood pressure, high cholesterol, smoking, diabetes, and a sedentary lifestyle.
Preventing a heart attack largely revolves around maintaining a heart-healthy lifestyle. Regular exercise, a balanced diet rich in fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and lean proteins, along with managing stress, can significantly lower the risk. Furthermore, understanding your personal risk factors and engaging with healthcare professionals for regular check-ups can be crucial in both prevention and early detection. If you suspect someone is having a heart attack, it's important to call emergency services immediately, as timely treatment is vital for survival and recovery.
Nattokinase is an enzyme extracted from a traditional Japanese food called natto, which is made from fermented soybeans. This enzyme is thought to have potential health benefits, primarily for cardiovascular health. Nattokinase is believed to support the breakdown of fibrin in the blood, which can help improve circulation and reduce the risk of blood clot formation. As a dietary supplement, it is often marketed for its possible ability to promote healthy blood flow and cardiovascular function.
While some studies suggest that nattokinase may help reduce blood pressure and enhance overall heart health, research is still ongoing. As with any supplement, it is essential to consult with a healthcare professional before adding nattokinase to your regimen, especially if you are on blood-thinning medications or have underlying health conditions. Overall, while nattokinase might offer some intriguing health benefits, more comprehensive studies are needed to fully understand its efficacy and safety profile.
Based on user reviews, the timeframe for noticing results from Nattokinase varies, with many users reporting improvements in their cardiovascular health after consistent use of one to two months. For instance, one user noted a significant difference in their circulation after taking Nattokinase for about a month, saying it has become more challenging to reach their desired heart rate during exercise, which they interpret as a positive sign of improved heart health Read Review. Similarly, another reviewer mentioned they would provide an update on their mother's health after a few weeks of use, indicating some users expect to see benefits in the short term Read Review.
Moreover, several users emphasized the effectiveness of Nattokinase in alleviating heart-related issues and supporting blood circulation, often drawing upon personal experiences that suggest a gradual improvement over time Read Review. Moreover, several users noted the overall benefits of Nattokinase in conjunction with their existing heart health routines. One user indicated that their husband's health improved considerably with Nattokinase, which they attributed to its blood-thinning properties, potentially enhancing the effectiveness of their healthcare regimen Read Review. This suggests that for those seeking to manage or improve their heart health, combining Nattokinase with other supplements like omega-3s or medications like aspirin may yield positive outcomes, although individual responses can vary.
Based on user reviews, there seems to be a consensus around the effectiveness of Nattokinase for heart health, though specific dosages vary. One user reported taking one capsule daily to alleviate post-vaccination chest discomfort, noting a significant improvement without any negative side effects Read Review. Another user mentioned taking two daily and experiencing a marked change in cardiovascular health, suggesting that both single and double doses might be beneficial depending on individual health needs Read Review.
Several users have also highlighted that Nattokinase dosage aligns well with other heart medications, such as aspirin, indicating its potential as a complementary treatment Read Review. Ultimately, while specific recommendations on dosage vary, users emphasize the importance of consulting with a healthcare professional for tailored advice based on personal health circumstances.
